Hou Hai, Hou Hai, Off to the Lake We Go~

First day of sightseeing. Ohhh yes!! Actually, our destination was supposed to be Bei Hai Park but thanks to the dreadful rain, we only got as far as halfway.

The weather actually started out pretty good at the beginning of the day. But then as soon as we left the house, it started to pour down - pretty similar to the rain we had in Brunei, if you can remember that. So we had to run into a nearby shop to buy umbrellas. Although I didn't actually need one, I bought one anyway simply cos it had a nice pattern, and was pretty cheap too.

We then made our way to Hou Hai, and stopped by at Xi Hai, by which time it was pretty much torrential rain!! D: Needed to find shelter quick so ran into some little cafe shop and had lunch.

The rain had stopped by the time we had finished lunch, and then so we carried on with our journey. We reached Hou Hai, and it was a pretty nice place. Would've been better had it been a sunny day but I'm sure I'll probably be back again some day.

In the afternoon, we made plans to finally go out and eat with Adam and Dominic. We went to a Korean BBQ place just a ten minute walk down the road from the apartment. The restaurant was actually pretty snazzy and the food was just as good.

I ate Bibimbap, and to be honest, even though it was good, it was a bit bland and not spicy enough when comparing it to the various Bibimbap's I've eaten in London. The portions are pretty huge too and no matter how much I tried to stuff myself, I had to leave a quarter of it.

We also got mis-served a dish of fried kimchi rice and had to explain that we never ordered it. What had happened was Beth was pointing at the picture when we were looking through the menu so the waiter probably assumed we wanted a dish.

Later on in the meal, we got served with a bowl of some sort of orange stuff in it. We had no idea what it was but it turned out to be cold pumpkin soup. Although I didn't find it too nice, Beth managed to finish all of hers.

After eating, finding the way out was a bit confusing. The Korean BBQ place is attached to a massive shopping center and we got a bit lost. Had to wander through some lingerie, shoes, and down an elevator to get out. On our way out, we noticed that there was some kind of bungee jumping session for kids going on inside the shopping centre too - not really something you'd find would happen in Ipswich or London eh?
